Architectural lighting and desing particularity
Haluza, Miroslav ; Maixner, Tomáš (referee) ; Baxant, Petr (advisor)
The goal of this thesis is make a list of theoretic routes outside (architectural) lighting and draw up accessible light fitting. Further are in those work included principle for handy suggestion architectural lighting after technical norms and practical recommendationthat the is necessary at projection hereof lighting adhere. Last but not least is here mentioned problems installation and upkeep architectural lighting and safeness and immunity electric arrangement.
Effect of laser attacks on pilots work
Rind, Pavel ; Kadlec, Ota (referee) ; Chlebek, Jiří (advisor)
In recent years a number of cases of flight crew illumination by laser beam have been reported. Such events are considered dangerous for flight safety and for aviator´s health. If a human eye is illuminated by laser beam of high intensity such event can lead to temporary or permanent eye damage.
Let There Be Light? Impact of Light Pollution on the Environment
Reverse calculation of the luminous intensity curves of street lighting luminaires
Knápková, Dagmar ; Baxant, Petr (referee) ; Škoda, Jan (advisor)
This master´s thesis deals with the reverse calculation of luminous curves for roads according to ČSN EN 13201. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part describes the basic requirements and procedures for calculating the luminous curves. The practical part describes the program, created in the Matlab environment, which is designed for the practical calculation of the ideal luminous curve, for each situation given by the user. Further particular example of the calculation is given.
Evaluation of Lighting Quality Using Modern Software Tools
Fazekas, Tibor ; Škoda, Jan (referee) ; Baxant, Petr (advisor)
This thesis deals with the evaluation of the quality of lighting with the usage of the latest software products used nowadays. The first part of the work is about indoor lighting, the basic requirements invested in lighting, and the basic concepts of indoor lighting. The second part includes complete search for today's computer implements for projecting, simulating, calculation and analysis of light, their functions and characteristics, including luminance analyzers based on CCD sensors and their software equipment. The last part of the work has the task to model a computer room using softwares which can be found within the territory of VUT Brno, and the task was to assess its lighting. Following this, with the help of luminance analyzer, the task is to capture the scene under different lighting conditions and to evaluate the measured data.
Glare measurement with a luminance analyser
Kalfus, Petr ; Baxant, Petr (referee) ; Škoda, Jan (advisor)
One of the basic parameters of any lighting is the quality of the illumination design, and how it glares. This paper deals with glare and its evaluation. The basic variables used in its evaluation are described. Methods of evaluating internal glare using various indexes are described. Methods of evaluating glare from daylight and evaluating glare of outdoor systems are also described. The principle of operation of luminance analysers is then described and the school LDA luminance analyser that will be used for the measurements is described. The indoor glare measurements made are described, manually evaluated and calculated and compared with the new automated calculation in the lumiDISP program. The daylight glare and outdoor glare measurements are also described, evaluated and compared with the new automated calculation. Finally, the possibility of measuring glare with a luminance analyser is summarised and the accuracy of the new lumiDISP functions is evaluated
The impact of architectural lighting on the environment of NKP Vyšehrad area
Kučera, Patrik ; Kárníková, Hana ; Maierová, Lenka
Architectural lighting performs an aesthetic function, accentuating the significance of historic buildings or important public spaces. At the time of the creation of historic buildings, the artificial night lighting of facades was neither affordable nor technologically feasible. The architecture was designed for daylighting, which is dynamic and creates different shadows and contrasts. With the coming of new powerful LED sources, lighting is becoming more and more involved in the atmosphere of the night environment, not only on festive occasions but also permanently. Intense cones of light create new, foreign elements in the nightscape. The increase in the frequency and intensity of electric lighting in the night environment contributes to light pollution that burdens nature and degrades the cultural landscape. The study analyses the illumination of the historic buildings of the Vyšehrad, assessing the effect of lighting on the monumental value of the buildings and the degree of interference with the natural environment of the park. Using brightness analysis, it monitors the adequacy of light use, identifies excessively illuminated areas, and places at risk of glare from light sources. The results demonstrate the contribution of architectural lighting to light pollution. Highintensity lighting and placement of light sources that do not support the plasticity of architectural detail affect the historical context in the environment - high contrasts affect visual comfort and user orientation. Light cones encroaching into the tree canopy have a negative impact. The excessive intensity and inappropriate direction of light are also detrimental to the wider context of the city.
